Background: in 2005. The American heart association published revised guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency cardiovascular care. These guidelines are used to guide the training of pre hospital care provided and also to revise the protocols that care givers follow. Material and methods: this study is a review article and is based on more than 20 articles about new guidelines for CPR in children & newborns. Result: the largest impact will be in the way cardiopulmonary CPR is performed in victims of effective uninterrupted chest compression during CPR. Pediatric- specific changes in the guidelines include the following: when a patient should be identified as a pediatric patient; methods for delivering CPR; and the used of the automated external defibrillator.
